In January of 2024 I launched the Hero Me Community Discord server, as the original creator MediaMan3D had gone silent since June of 2023. I had two goals in mind: make the Hero Me an open source project that anyone can make parts for; and liberate the critical information necessary to build the otherwise free to download print head. 10 Months in and MediaMan has still not returned and we are moving ahead full force. Instead of requesting a part from MediaMan and waiting until the heat death of the universe for it to be made, you can ask the community and add new functionality to the Hero Me together, faster. Ready to start modifying the Hero Me?
Creating parts for the Hero Me is a great way to level up your CAD knowledge. You can get started by reading up on the Hero Me Community Edition Design Compendium, which will outline a few things you need to know when making specific parts. You can skip to the sections relevant to what you’re making if you like. I will also be creating a few STEP files for starting points, which can easily be modified in most CAD software, although I prefer Autodesk Fusion.
